Sarasota Memorial Health Care System is welcoming a new colon and rectal surgeon to the health system’s First Physicians Group (FPG) network.
Alexander Casella, MD, is now accepting patients at FPG’s Colon and Rectal Surgery office in the Waldemere Medical Plaza.
Dr. Casella is double-board certified and fellowship trained in colon and rectal surgery. He performs advanced, minimally invasive surgery for benign and malignant colon and rectal problems including colorectal cancers, diverticulitis, rectal prolapse and inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis), as well as surgery for anorectal problems, such as hemorrhoids, anal abscesses, fistulas, and fissures.
Dr. Casella received his medical degree from Florida Atlantic University, Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine, in Boca Raton, Florida. He completed residencies at both Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton and at the University of Hawaii in Honolulu, Hawaii. His fellowship was at the University of Texas in Houston, Texas.
