Sarasota Memorial Health Care System is welcoming two new endocrinologists to the health system’s First Physicians Group (FPG) network.
Laura Rainer, MD, and Pooja Pothiwala, MD, are now accepting patients at FPG’s Endocrinology practice in Venice.
Dr. Rainer and Dr. Pothiwala are both board certified and fellowship trained in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism. They specialize in clinical endocrinology including the diagnosis and medical management of thyroid and parathyroid disorders, thyroid nodules, FNA thyroid nodule biopsy, pre-diabetes and diabetes, complex diabetes treatments including insulin pump therapy & continuous glucose monitoring, pituitary and adrenal gland disorders, and Graves’ disease.
Dr. Rainer received her medical degree from the Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest, Romania. She completed her residency in medicine and pediatrics at Louisiana State University in Shreveport, Louisiana, where she also completed her fellowship in endocrinology, metabolism and nutrition.
Dr. Pothiwala received her medical degree from NHL Municipal Medical College in Gujarat, India. She completed her residency in internal medicine at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Urbana, Illinois and her Fellowship in Endocrinology at Louisiana State University Health Science Center in Shreveport, Louisiana. She is fluent in English, Gujarati and Hindi.
